Senator Chip Rogers called a press conference for 10:00am today announcing the newly designated multi-jurisdictional Opportunity Zone (OZ) for Cherokee County. This is the first multi-jurisdictional OZ within the state of Georgia covering parts of the County, City of Canton, and City of Ball Ground. This state designation allows for companies located within the zone to benefit from added state job tax credits. Senator Rogers expressed his confidence that the combination of added incentives along with the proximity to I-575, Cherokee County Airport, The Bluffs development, an educated workforce and training opportunities (available within OZ via Chattahoochee Technical College), make this the next economic development hot spot.
