Embrace The Weird: Bizarre Coffee Brings Good Mood Juice To Cherokee’s Autumn
The quiet bustle of a town waking up, a crisp breeze finally cutting through the summer heat, a hint of fall in the air and a colorful coffee shop serving up freshly roasted brews that taste like autumn in a cup – that’s the beginning of a good mood you can only find at Cherokee County’s Bizarre Coffee.
“We believe in the transfer of energy,” said Sabrina Kaylor, co-founder and owner of Bizarre Coffee. “Our baristas are making your drink, putting in love, putting in attention – and you get that transfer of energy with the finished product. That’s Good Mood Juice.”
Bizarre Coffee doesn’t just make coffee, their mission is to make your day, every day. Their tag Good Mood Juice is at the essence of that.
“I think what really makes a good cup of coffee is a perfect combination of an amazing roast, the freshness of the coffee and then how you brew it,” said Sabrina. “You can get creative, but I think those three things are the base to a perfect cup.”
Bizarre Coffee brings Good Mood Juice to coffee connoisseurs and the coffee curious alike through innovative flavor combinations. “One thing that makes Bizarre unique is that we’re extremely approachable and we’re something everybody can enjoy,” said Sabrina. “I think a lot of times things get lost in nuance – but most people just want the opportunity to experience something amazing in a way that feels authentic, comfortable and exciting.”
“But we also try to push the boundaries and do things a little bit different,” said Sabrina. “We believe in changing the flavors and trying our best to pair unique flavors together.”
Bizarre Coffee is known for their unique menu that offers combinations from a mocha, cherry and pistachio latte to a Jammin’ Toast roast that tastes like the real deal. Their highly anticipated fall menu dropped on August 21.
“Fall is the best time of the year. You see things come alive in a different way,” said Sabrina. “We really put a lot into developing our fall menu. We try to capture the essence of fall, those feelings or experiences that you might have or share with family, and then translate that into a drink.” Sabrina’s favorite fall drink, the Basic Witch, combines maple, pumpkin and cinnamon vanilla cold foam.
This bizarre journey began in 2020, when Sabrina and her husband Michael made the decision to finally pursue their coffee-flavored dreams. “I have always loved coffee,” said Sabrina. “I think I had my first sip of coffee in eighth grade. After that, I fell in love with the culture of coffee shops.”
An artist by trade, Sabrina wanted a brand that spoke to the creativity and the weird in everyone – and so Bizarre Coffee was born. “As a painter, I wanted something to celebrate things that make me unique,” said Sabrina. “I didn’t want to be stuck in the bounds of a name. I wanted something that could grow evergreen, like the people around us who are evolving and changing, and something that really sheds light on the things that make people different.”
Bizarre Coffee got their start in Cherokee at the Canton Farmer’s Market. “It was the first time we went out with a label of my artwork and coffee,” said Sabrina. “As artists, we were no strangers to markets, and I can’t tell you how many times we left disappointed – but our first farmer’s market was so well received and we got amazing feedback from the community.”
Six months later, they signed the lease on their first location in downtown Canton. “This community was so amazing to us right off the get-go. When we got the opportunity to open our physical shop, everybody rallied for us,” said Sabrina. “I can’t even articulate how cool it is, because I know not every community is like that, but it’s been so critical to our success.”
Bizarre expanded to Woodstock in March 2024. “The cool thing about Cherokee County is they really pour into incubating small businesses,” said Sabrina. “We were exposed to programs like the Cherokee Office of Economic Development’s North Atlanta Venture Mentoring Service. It’s so important for new businesses to have access to programs like that because it really sets you up for success and encourages growth.”
Bizarre Coffee aims to keep making people’s day and keep creating spaces for people to be themselves and connect with their community and personal creativity.
“People need to embrace their weird,” said Sabrina. “It’s really, really important for every community to have a place where people feel like they can come, no matter where they’re from or what they bring, and walk in and have someone who’s only job is to make your day.”
“I would love to see tiny coffee shops everywhere,” said Sabrina. “We want to show up for the people who don’t have a place they can go.”
