Explore Cherokee Through A New Lens
Embark On Curated Film Tours With The Updated Filmed In Cherokee Mobile App
WOODSTOCK, GA — The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) is launching an update to their awarding-winning Filmed In Cherokee Mobile App that offers a more interactive and customizable experience to explore behind-the-scenes of Cherokee’s film industry.
With the new update, users can embark on self-guided expeditions following curated tours of film locations in Cherokee. The new Tours feature includes the Historic Highlights Tour, Family Fun Tour, Spine-Tingling Tour, Foodie Tour and more.
Users can also create their own tours by filtering by Film Type or City, or they can visit the interactive Map feature to see what locations are nearby.
Check In at locations to keep track of past adventures and try to collect them all! Commemorate your trip with a sharable selfie and turn on notifications to be alerted when you are close to a film location.
Accessing on-set photos, insider stories and fun facts about productions in Cherokee County has become even easier. Uncover the full catalog of films Cherokee has hosted under the Also Filmed In Cherokee tab. Users can learn about film projects whose locations are not open to the public or were filmed on private property.
The free Filmed in Cherokee Mobile App was launched in 2021 by COED to offer an interactive way to enjoy the community while taking in fan-favorite film locations. This year, COED partnered with original developer and Cherokee By Choice investor Black Airplane to enhance user experience and analyze the impact of film tourism in Cherokee.
“We’re excited to launch the Filmed In Cherokee 2.0 Mobile App and look forward to visitors exploring our county and its film industry,” said COED President & CEO Misti Martin. “Film projects impact our economy dramatically while here, but Film Tourism has the potential to provide positive economic impact long after the project has wrapped.”
You can be part of this community impact while connecting with your favorite films. Cherokee’s welcoming environment keeps film crews coming back. Check In to film locations, complete tours and snap selfies to show support for Cherokee’s film industry and shop local along the way.
The Filmed In Cherokee Mobile App is available to download for free on Google Play or through the Apple App Store. For more information on filming in Cherokee, visit COED’s film page.
