Since 1971, Nor-Ral has specialized in composite and precision machined parts and tooling for the aerospace, aviation, and industrial industries. We have an immediate opening for an experienced CNC Machinist who can program, set up and operate 5-axis mills and routers.
Main Responsibilities:
• Develops, writes, and edits programs for product completion, both at the machine and off-line.
• Uses programming software to develop, write and improve machining processes and parts quality. (Mastercam, Cimatron or similar CAM program experience preferred.)
• Thorough understanding of fixturing requirements and the ability to design / construct and prove out new fixturing.
• Fluent in G code programing.
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications utilizing measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, etc.
• Sets up jobs based on written and/or verbal instructions.
• Ability to trouble shoot manufacturing issues related to machining and lead corrective actions.
• Select proper fixturing techniques and tooling for new and existing machining jobs.
• Ability to study and reads blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and set-up requirements.
• Builds cutting tools with minimal runout
• Use edge finder or dial indicator to find work shift origin per written and/or verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of tooling balls for 5-axis set-ups
• Able to safely work with cranes and material handling equipment.
• Observes and listens to machine operations to detect malfunctions and tool wear
• Must be organized and maintain a clean work area to minimize the opportunity for FOD.
• Must be flexible and willing to shift priorities as needed to meet customer deadlines.
• Possess own tooling is a plus
• May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others and be a team player.
Education and/or Experience requirements:
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years relevant programming experience.
• 5-axis: 5 years (Required)
