The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) is looking for a talented Project Manager of Entrepreneurship & Innovation who is passionate about entrepreneurship and is interested in having a meaningful impact on Cherokee’s tech ecosystem.

The Project Manager of Entrepreneurship & Innovation will scale and expand support for a multitude of valuable entrepreneur-centric programs under the Fresh Start Cherokee umbrella, including Fresh Start Mornings, NAV Mentoring Service, FastTrac, and Lunch Circuit.

The role will focus on three key areas of operations: managing and building Cherokee’s startup community, helping foster connections within the community, and developing value-added programming.

The successful candidate will be a results-oriented leader and self-starter that is already integrated within the Cherokee County or metro Atlanta business community.

Due to the highly collaborative culture and multitude of in-person programs hosted by COED, this is not offered as a remote position.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Integrate Cherokee county’s entrepreneurs within the Atlanta startup community to establish Cherokee County's potential within the Atlanta startup ecosystem
  • Serve as business development representative for tech-based businesses and startups by generating leads, conducting tours, and telling the story of Cherokee's community growth strategy
  • Recruit keynote speakers, presenters and volunteers for entrepreneurship events and programming
  • Develop strategies to expand entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cherokee County and build upon strategies identified in Cherokee By Choice 2.0 Plan
  • Promote and grow existing programs and report progress with metrics-driven results
  • Provide entrepreneurs with access to everything they need to succeed – today and in the future
  • Help to manage a dynamic website as a source of resources for entrepreneurs, including a customized small business startup kit
  • Collaborate with COED team to produce a variety of copy concepts and creative designs to promote a clear brand message to the public for each entrepreneurship program

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related discipline
  • Experience as a startup founder, business development professional, customer success agent, or another customer-facing role
  • Experience developing strategy and executing plan to meet objectives
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and social media platforms

Additional Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in event planning and/or the startup ecosystem
  • Business model development experience
  • Knowledge of small business development resources and networks
  • A working knowledge of how entrepreneurial ecosystems and economic development collide
