The Cherokee Office of Economic Development is the local conduit for offering local or state incentives for projects that create extraordinary impact resulting in job creation and capital investment. Assisting existing companies with expansion projects or working with new companies through their location process, our team is driven to provide solutions and develop long-term relationships with business.

  • Training Assistance

    Georgia Quick Start has been singled out by Fortune, as well as Training, and Expansion Management magazines for its effectiveness in providing the most comprehensive and advanced training in the nation. Quick Start programs are custom-designed and the training is delivered through a network of technical colleges, satellite campuses, and associated university programs throughout the state.

  • Freeport Exemption

    Cherokee County has 100% free port exemption. This means that the industries will not be charged inventory tax on raw materials and goods in process, finished goods held by the original manufacturer, and finished goods held by distributors, wholesalers, and manufacturers destined for out-of-state shipment.

  • Tax Incentives

    The Development Authority considers new business tax incentives on a case-by-case basis. These incentives are based on positive economic impact on the community criteria for consideration includes the project’s amount of capital investment as well as number and quality of new jobs created.

  • Opportunity Zone

    Cherokee County has approximately 5,022 acres located within the state designated Opportunity Zone (OZ). Companies located within the Opportunity Zone can take advantage of the maximum state job tax credit of $3,500 per job created starting the year the eligible net new jobs are added under the program.

  • Impact Fees

    The Development Authority works in conjunction with the Impact Fee Appeals Board to recommend reduction or waiver of impact fees for targeted businesses with extraordinary positive economic impact. Final decisions are made by the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners.

  • State Incentives

    The State of Georgia offers a range of incentives for new and existing industries.

  • Existing Industry Incentive Program

    The Cherokee County Development Authority, in coordination with Cherokee County government, provides a tax incentive program for qualified industries located in Cherokee County. The purpose of this program is to encourage and support local industrial expansion.
